Landscape design
"SpetsParkDesign" does a comprehensive range of landscaping design jobs. Depending on the complexity of a job, landscape design process requires several steps. •site analysis; •concept plan and preliminary design; •cost estimates; •preparation of comprehensive working drawings. Small projects might just need: • site analysis (at the very least we need a topographic plan and the interview with the client and a field trip to the site for site analysis); •preliminary design with estimates.
Site analysis
The first phase of landscaping design process involves analysis of the natural elementsa of the site such as terrain, soil, subsoil water level, climate zone, planning restrictions and historical facts. Style of design, presence or lack of reservoirs, types of plants, landscaping expenses and further maintenance- all this will depend on the findings during the preliminary site analysis. The purpose of the project and funds available are also important.
Site analysis includes: • OConsidering th purpose of the project and funds available; • Obtaining or creating of a topographical plan with marks for terrain, plants and buildings; • Obtaining plans of utilities and, if necessary, technical conditions for conducting engineering services; • Conducting geological analysis to establish subsoil water level and soil characteristics; if needed, conducting hydrogeological analysis; • Determining climate conditions of the plot; • Soil analysis to determine whether it can be used for gardening; • Examination and photographing of the plants and trees (preparing a dendroplan- mapping of each tree with reference to its value and condition, finding trees that constitute danger); • Landscape analysis of the site; search for pleasant and unpleasant views; • Other data needed for landscape design process (historical maps, etc).
Preliminary design
The second stage of the landscape design process involves optimal zoning of the territory in accordance with the wishes of the client and the characteristics and potential of the plot. The landscaping architect develops a design that will include the main ideas and elements of construction and planting, functional distribution of zones and routes. The design includes the plan of the plot, drawings of the main points and other pictures to illustrate the main ideas of the architect.
Working drawings
The project may include: • the general plan; • proposal for installment of lights (technical calculations with visualization and electrical details); • proposal for other engineering services (for example, the automatic sprinkler system); • other small architectural structures (fences, gazebos, pavilions, etc) • construction plans; • estimates, etc. There can also be secondary projects that include several sections. For example, construction of a fountain may include architectural design, construction, and engineering services. The general plan is a collection of blueprints and tables that show the plot boundaries, proposed land relief, plants, walkways, reservoirs, buildings, architectural elements: • Explanatory note; • Plan of land relief and removal of earth; • blueprint; • dendroplan and blueprint of location of plants; • plans for drainage; • plans for lighting; • sketches of small architectural structures and atypical constructions.
